My Jesus,

I believe that you are present in the Most Holy Sacrament.

I love you above all things, and I desire to receive you into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive you sacramentally,

come at least spiritually into my heart.

I embrace you as if you were already there and unite myself wholly to you.

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU STAY AT HOME TO PROTECT YOURSELF.

This included the elderly and vulnerable people.

We can help you to access these items without leaving your home.

We also have some foodbank reserves for distribution for any families/individuals that may be struggling at this time.

Parish envelopes: some Parishioners have left envelopes at the Parochial House – thank you for your support and contributions. If you feel you would like to contribute and are able to contribute, you can leave envelopes at the Parochial House. Envelopes for 2020/2021 were being distributed recently but regulations concerning travel etc have disrupted this.

Further restrictions and closures during the emergency period

(5) A person who is responsible for a place of worship must ensure that, during the emergency period, the place of worship is closed, except for uses permitted in paragraph (6).

(6) A place of worship may be used— (a) for funerals, (b) to broadcast an act of worship, whether over the internet or as part of a radio or television broadcast, or (c) to provide essential voluntary services or urgent public support services (including the provision of food banks or other support for the homeless or vulnerable people, blood donation sessions or support in an emergency).

(8) A person who is responsible for a crematorium or burial ground must ensure that, during the emergency period, the crematorium or burial ground is closed to members of the public, except for funerals or burials.

I was glad to see that Bishop Donal McKeown, Bishop of Derry, questioned the need to close Churches – he expressed an opinion that many people have expressed to me – maybe he might be listened to by the relevant authorities. I understand from the newspapers that there will be a review of this regulation later in April. Mod.

COVID-19 Support Line for Older People ALONE has launched a national support line and additional supports for older people who have concerns or are facing difficulties relating to the outbreak of COVID-19 (Coronavirus). Professional staff are available to answer queries and give advice and reassurance where necessary. The support line is open seven days a week, 8am – 8pm, by calling 0818 222 024.
