Masks -although not now compulsory to be worn inside Churches, masks should be worn when attending Mass. Please observe social distancing while in the Churches. Those receiving Holy Communion can only do so on the hand – as has been the norm since March 2020. In coming to receive please respect social distancing in the procession to the sanctuary. Those attending are asked to bring a wipe with them to clean down the place where they were praying. Like our homes, it is important to keep our Churches clean and hygienic. After Mass, when outside the Church, please once again respect social distancing. Attending any of the weekday Masses fulfils the Sunday obligation which has been suspended for the foreseeable future so please plan which Mass suits you or your family.

Blessing of the Graves: Old Errigal Ciaran Sunday 12th September 2pm. We remember in this gathering all who are buried here but this year we will also remember those buried since July 2019 – the last time we gathered physically. Bring water with you which will be blessed, and families will be asked to sprinkle the Holy Water on the graves. At this gathering I want also to remember loved ones of Parishioners who died beyond our Parish since March 2020 – bring a photo of them to be placed around the Paschal Fire and Altar. Their names may have been included in our Parish Bulletin but perhaps you as a family could not attend Mass in the Parish at that time.

Sacrament of Marriage: congratulations to Martin McGirr and Linda McElduff who were married recently.

The Season of Creation is marked throughout the Christian world from 1st September to 4th October -Feast of Saint Francis of Assisi – and celebrates the joy of creation as well as encouraging awareness-raising initiatives to protect the natural environment. The theme for 2021 is ‘Restoring Our Common Home’. During this season we are asked to join together to celebrate creation and protect our common home through prayer, reflection and action. Pope Francis says: The global Christian family is called to awaken to the urgent need to heal our relationships with creation and with each other and to encourage our parish communities to do the same, “for we know that things can change!” For action families might plant a tree at home or a shrub on the bank at Ballymacilroy to attract insects and butterflies.
