Ruby Jubilee: I want to thank you all for last Sunday as we gathered to mark my ruby jubilee of priestly ordination. It was a wonderful occasion – the Mass, the Hall, the bunting, so many people present and all those joining via webcam and radio. (a recording of the Mass is available by tuning into the Parish website) To the Parish Pastoral Council and so many others who organised and took part in the liturgy and in setting up the Church and the hall and preparing and serving and washing up the tea/coffee and eatables including the ice cream and the slushies. The choir were amazing and their rendering of ‘Be thou my vision’ along with the reflection was very special. If the celebration of my jubilee brought so many people together to celebrate our faith and our Parish Community, then it was all worthwhile. Thank you. And thank you for welcoming my family who were very impressed with everything. And thank you for all your good wishes, gifts and presents – the picture of the five Mass centres in the Parish and the Errigal Ciaran stone cross especially. So much to be grateful to God for and the sunshine last Sunday was an added blessing. Let us continue to pray for each other. Mod.

We welcome Fr Ruben Padilla from the Comboni Missionaries of the Heart of Jesus to our Parish this weekend. The Missionaries are based in Dublin and are an international Congregation of Priests and Brothers present in 42 countries worldwide with about 1800 members from 32 different nationalities. St Daniel Comboni, an Italian-born priest, founded the male congregation in 1867 and the Comboni Sisters in 1872. Fr Ruben and his confreres work in countries where people are not evangelized or not sufficiently evangelized. They also work with people on issues of integral development to bring wholeness to their lives. Fr Ruben visits and makes appeals in Parishes to keep their work of evangelization going.
