Blessing of Graves at St Mary’s Church – great crowds despite the weather – thanks to all who came and prayed – I hope it helped. Altar Glen – again we walked over dry, but rain came during Mass – no one melted, no reports of puddles of sugar afterwards! – thanks to those who walked – erected Altars along

the road -Mark Carmichael who piped us along the way – servers who also carried symbols regarding St Oliver – reader, First Communion children(gifts) , Confirmation young people(Prayer of the Faithful) Eucharistic Ministers – the Choir and musicians – Altar Glen Committee who decorated and organised the welcome Refreshments in Community Centre. It is important to celebrate and remember our past and the efforts our ancestors and clergy made to practice our faith.

The Altar Glen will be getting a make-over in the near future – this will preserve our heritage and be a focal point for Parishioners and visitors as a place of prayer and reflection. Donations towards this project can be given to Fr Michael. Thank you.

Rule of St Benedict – feast day 11th July – which guides the communal life of monasteries but useful for family life: the Rule recognises that people aim at perfection but often fall well short of it, and aims to be a rule for beginners in which even the least perfect and least able can grow in spiritual stature; to live this way allows people to grow together and become more and more themselves, as God intended them, instead of being crushed into false uniformity by some idealistic and authoritarian regime; the Rule drags our eyes up to the stars but keeps our feet firmly on the ground; it calls us to perfection but keeps us sane. Read also the liturgical readings for the feast: Proverbs 2:1-9; Psalm 33; Gospel Matthew 19:27-29.

Those who are given to white lies soon become colour blind.

Table Prayer: Lord, we thank you for the food before us, the family and friends beside us, the love between us and your presence among us. Amen.
