Born Robert Francis Prevost on 14th September 1955, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Ordained priest 19th June 1982 as member of the Order of St Augustine. Missionary work in Peru from 1985 to 1986 and from 1988 to 1998, where he variously served as a parish pastor, diocesan official, seminary teacher, and administrator. Prior General of the Augustinians 2001-2013. Ordained Bishop 12th December 2014. Titular Bishop of Sufar 2014-2015. Bishop of Chiclayo, Peru 2015-2023. Became a naturalized citizen of Peru 2015. Prefect of the Dicastery of Bishops 2023-present. Created Cardinal 30th September 2023. Took Vatican Nationality 2023. Elected Pope during Conclave on Thursday 8th May 2025 taking the name Leo XlV. Mass for the inauguration of the Petrine ministry of Pope Leo Sunday 18th May. Motto – In illo Uno unum (In the One, we are one)
