Diocesan levy and finance reports Parishioners, please find in Churches summary of Parish accounts 2023/2024 and a letter from the Diocese concerning Diocesan Levies – money sent to the Diocese helps run the Diocesan Curia and other agencies. In the past the return from a Parish was calculated on so much per family – so our contribution amounted to £7500per year. The new levy will be based on Parish income (2023/2024) which is paid during 2025 and amounts to £17774. Parish income is based in this instance on Sunday envelope collection, candelabra, Gift Aid. What is not included is clergy revenue(Dues), rental income, fundraising income, legacies, donations, proceeds from land and property sales (though there is a separate levy on sale of land and property) and grave fees. So the levy will change from year to year depending on how much income the Parish generates year to year. It is my personal hope that these measures will be discussed at Diocesan level in the near future as to how the new levies are impacting on Parishes and also what the Diocese is doing to re-order their costs. Our Parish Finance Committee will also discuss the impact of the levies on our own financial situation. MoD.

Thanks from Mia. Just a word of thanks to all those who supported Mia Askin’s charity hair cut through sponsorship and to those who attended the event itself on Sunday 22nd June. Mia has donated 11 inches of her hair which will go into making a real hair wig for another child and to date has raised £3550.00. This is an absolutely fantastic amount, and she and her family/friends are so grateful. This money will be used to provide a child with a wig (£700) and the remainder will be used for research into childhood cancer.

Note from Fr Leo. Greetings from Mzuzu in the Northern Region of Malawi. I’ve settled back well here after my short visit home. To those I got to see it was great to meet again. For the many that I didn’t meet, hopefully next time. For those who have asked my prayers for various reasons be assured of them.
I believe a great spell of weather arrived as I left but I was blessed to see some glorious days in May. I hope you all with your families have a good summer ahead. We pray strength of the Spirit to carry the heavy mood that’s sitting on all people of good will across the world at present. We are in a jubilee year of Hope so let that be our touchstone that the better day will come. As we pray for that we each do the little bit of good we can each day, me over here you over there. All blessings on your generosity to me in my work and gratitude for your prayers. Until my next time home keep safe remain well and hold fast to Hope. Fr. Leo Traynor.
